Underfloor heating in combination with Granab subfloor system
Granab subfloor system is an optimal solution for projects where underfloor heating is to be installed. The system’s dimensionally stable construction makes it well suited for underfloor heating projects. The 3000N, 7000N and 9000N systems are made of non-organic material and are therefore not affected by temperature changes, which is a major advantage for long-term functionality. All Granab’s systems – 3000N, 7000N, 8000W and 9000N – are compatible with underfloor heating and can be combined with several different installation methods and underfloor heating suppliers.
Flexible installation of underfloor heating
The space between the floorboards and the slabs offers great opportunities for easy installation of underfloor heating systems. Supply and return pipes from underfloor heating distributors can easily be placed in this space without affecting the sound-insulating properties of the system. This flexible cable routing is one of the major advantages of Granab’s systems and makes installation both quick and efficient.
Different installation methods
LK CombiBoard
A popular method is to combine Granab’s system with LK CombiBoard, an aluminium-coatedd EPS board with a thickness of 18 mm that is mounted on top of a 22 mm floor chipboard or equivalent. The board is very light and pre-prepared for pipe laying, which enables very quick installation. This method works excellently with all Granab’s subfloor systems.
Pre-grooved floor chipboard
One option is to use grooved chipboard with a thickness of 22 mm, with heat distribution plates placed in the grooves. This provides effective heat distribution and is also compatible with all Granab’s subfloor systems.
Surface layers and floor coverings
Granab’s systems can be equipped with different types of surface layers depending on the project’s requirements and preferences. Any surface layer can be selected, such as textile tiles, laminate, parquet, vinyl, linoleum or clinker, to create the right look and function. All floor tiles and coverings can be combined with the system to meet both functional and visual requirements.
Granab installation flooring – A leading solution
Granab Subfloor System is a leading solution on the Swedish market with over 30 years of experience. The system offers many advantages that make it an advantageous choice for various projects. The flexibility in tenant adaptations and the ability to easily make future changes saves both time and money. Granab’s system meets high standards for both functionality and comfort.
Better sound environment and comfort
An installation floor from Granab provides a significantly improved sound environment compared to traditional solutions. With Granab, walls with high sound requirements can be placed above board material. The system offers effective impact sound reduction and airborne sound insulation that can be adapted to the project’s requirements. This increases comfort and creates a more ergonomic working environment. The floor is not dull or too hard, which helps prevent pain in the shoulders, back and legs.
Quick and efficient assembly
Granab installation flooring is installed directly onto the raw floor structure without wet surface levelling. This allows for quick installation, significantly reducing construction time. There is no need for chemical additives or long drying times. The system uses dimensionally stable floor girders/beams made of galvanised steel or LVL wood beams together with an effective sound-absorbing suspension system. This makes installation both simple and efficient.
Environmental benefits and sustainability
Granab’s installation flooring has up to 50% less CO2 impact than traditional concrete casting. The system weighs only about 5 kg per square metre, compared to conventional casting, which can weigh 100-200 kg per square metre. Its low weight makes it particularly suitable for adding extra floors and attics.
The Granab system is completely dismantlable, reusable and recyclable.
Systems 3000N, 7000N and 9000N are environmentally certified and consist of non-organic materials that are not affected by moisture or temperature changes. For wood-based alternatives, there is System 8000W.
Flexible cable routing
The space between the slab and the floorboards offers major advantages for flexible cable routing. Ventilation, electrical and data cables can be routed freely under the system without creating structure-borne noise. This facilitates both new installations and future renovations. It is advantageous to place walls above the board material in order to be able to flexibly run installations under the floor and move walls with minimal impact on the property. This system is ideal for office environments, server rooms and data centres where technical requirements are high.
Areas of application
Installation flooring is used in many different types of buildings and environments. The system is ideal for homes, offices, schools, hotels and public premises. It is a good choice for control rooms and data rooms where high flexibility is required for technical installations. The system can also be installed on wooden joists with simple reinforcement, making it a universal solution for different constructions.
Adjustable building height
Granab’s installation floors offer variable construction heights from 30 to 480 mm, excluding floor covering. Special heights are available up to 1500 mm, depending on the project’s requirements. This flexibility allows the system to be adapted to different technical requirements and conditions. You can choose the right height to create sufficient space for all necessary installations.
Disadvantages of traditional data floors
Traditional solutions for data floors and installation floors have several disadvantages. They are often expensive and require slow installation, and are installed in different rooms, which has a major impact when tenants want to adapt the space and move walls, as the floor must be removed in its entirety. Other flooring suppliers offer silent floors without acoustic reduction, which reduces comfort and puts more strain on the body. The sound environment is often poor, with clicks and creaks that are perceived as disturbing. Not all types of surface layers can be laid on traditional systems, which limits the possibilities.
